A DISPENSATIONAL THEOLOGY

There
are many questions for which we can find no satisfactory answer, such as, why
did God allow sin to come into the world? And why are some chosen to salvation
and others seemingly are passed by, many never having had opportunity to hear
the gospel? In the context of such questions Paul asks: “What shall we say
then? Is there unrighteousness with God?” And he is quick to answer: “God
forbid.” (Romans 9:14).
When the vials of wrath are poured out in that future day of great tribulation,
we hear the voice of the angel saying: “Thou art righteous, O Lord... because
thou hast judged thus” (Revelation 16:5).
The active righteousness of God is but the upholding of God’s holy character:
it is the execution of justice upon His subjects in view of His holiness. It is
necessary to distinguish between God’s attribute of righteousness, and the
imputed righteousness of God, which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and
upon all who believe (Romans 3:22; 4:6, 11, 22). This latter, although called the righteousness of God, is the
standing before God which a sinner receives when he is declared righteous or is
justified by faith.
