Williams gives
the following explanation of the word know in commenting on Psalm 83:18: “That men may know that thou, whose name alone
is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.”
The significance of the verb “to know” is “to make the experience” that
the Kingdom promised in the titles Jehovah and Most High an actuality. A corresponding
“know” is found in Exod. vi 3. This verse seems
contrary to fact, for Moses’ forefathers used the title Jehovah, but they had
not experienced the redemption which that title promised; Moses did.4
