6. It would appear that God has made
man’s mind so that it cannot rest until it has harmonized and systematized the
facts of knowledge. One may object that he doesn’t need Theology, that he has a
thorough knowledge of the Bible, that he has read it through many times and has
tried to discover all it has to say about God, man, sin, and salvation, but
without being aware of the fact, this man has been engaged all along in
formulating a Theology. Strong quotes Richie: “Just those persons who disclaim
metaphysics are sometimes most apt to be infected with the disease they profess
to abhor - and not know when they have it.’’ 1
