Old Testament Books. The Roman Catholic Church classifies these writings as Apocryphal, since they accept as canonical the books which Protestants call Apocryphal. These books are sometimes referred to as the Wider Apocrypha or as Apocalyptic Literature. They include books written from 200 B.C. to 200 A.D. which are ascribed to some Old Testament character as author.
