He is called “The blessed God” (Romans 9:5). Authorities differ on the punctuation of this verse, some
placing a colon and some a comma after the word flesh. In the first case
the verse would read: “of whom as concerning the flesh the Christ came: God who
is over all be blessed forever.” This makes the last part of the verse a
doxology. The other reading would be as in the A.V.: “Christ, who is over all,
God blessed forever.”
