A covenant is a contract or agreement between two parties. It may be either conditional or unconditional in nature. A conditional covenant is one in which the fulfillment of the agreement depends upon both parties faithfully carrying out the terms of the contract. Such a covenant is usually characterized by the word if – if the party of the second part (man) keeps the law, then the Party of the first part (God) will grant the blessing.
