Even the
agnostic must confess man’s need for Revelation, even though he denies its
existence. And this need is not simply in the intellectual world of science. It
is vastly greater in the realm of morals and human behavior. Is there absolute
right and wrong? Or are so-called moral laws simply the innovations of changing
cultures? Is man a responsible being who must someday give account to a higher
Authority? Or is he simply an irresponsible animal? Human suffering and moral
degradation alike show the need for a higher knowledge than man has been able
to attain in and by himself.
