INTRODUCTION: 5 CONTEMPORARY THEOLOGY
A DISPENSATIONAL THEOLOGY
By Charles F Baker
There are some
philosophers who have accepted Kierkegaard’s existentialism but have rejected
his solution as being an act of belief. Men like Jean-Paul Sartre are
completely atheistic and their philosophy is one of humanism. No doubt the catastrophic
events in Europe produced by two world wars, with all of the senseless
destruction and bloodshed, left people with a sense that the world is unintelligible
and that values of life once held are now meaningless. With the unrest that is
in the world after years of “cold war” which keeps getting “hot” in spots, with
the threat of a third World War, the horrors of which are beyond imagination,
and with nothing to look forward to but becoming “cannon fodder,” many young
men are prone to accept this pessimistic view of the world, and feel that all
of the values men once talked about are no longer valid.
