Easton
says he believes this statement of the prophet is correct, and therefore it is
impossible to believe that God gave Moses any commands about burnt offerings
and sacrifices, as contained in Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.
Therefore Moses could not have written these books, and all of this ritual must
have come in at a much later date. Other similar arguments which are beyond the
scope of this chapter are used to buttress this theory.
